Sanjay Roy concentrates his litigation practice in Criminal Defence Law, which includes criminal and quasi-criminal defense matters.
He is licensed to appear as counsel before the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Mr. Roy clerked for the Honorable Mr. Justice Lloyd Dean of the Ontario Court of Justice, where he gained invaluable insight into the criminal justice system.
In addition, Mr. Roy co-authored the article Maintaining Provincial Monopolies: The legality of online gambling sites in Canada with a leading academic in the area of gaming law. The article was published in the Canadian Gaming Lawyer Magazine, 1-11, and is available online.
As a zealous advocate Mr. Roy has successfully defended individuals charged with assault, domestic assault, sexual assault, robbery, controlled drug and substance offences, weapons offences, firearms offences, arson, theft/shoplifting, break & enter, impaired driving, dangerous driving, mischief, theft, arson, fraud, conspiracy, laundering proceeds of crime, regulatory offences such as careless driving, stunt/racing, driving with no insurance, and other offences.
Mr. Roy has defended the rights of his clients with great tenacity and dedication securing numerous acquittals as well as having his client’s charges withdrawn.
Mr. Roy practices throughout Ontario, primarily in Toronto, Brampton Newmarket and Oshawa vigorously representing clients from the very affluent to the impecunious.
